Tired of spam comments...

so I've added word verification to my comments settings. Apologies if this is a hassle,- please let me know if it's causing major irritation, and I'll jettison it forthwith...but till I can persuade the family that it's legitimate to spend money as well as time on the blog we'll have to muddle along with blogger at its most basic, which I think means that avoidance strategies are limited.
And apologies to anyone who hoped for a diverting Saturday evening post...I'm trying to write something fresh on a passage that I had to preach on only 3 months ago, so diversion more needed than forthcoming.

  1. On a related note, even with free Site meter, Kathryn, you can see what searches bring people to you when you click on "By Referral." The difference is the searches aren't separated from other ways of getting to you. But the URL listed might say Google search or Yahoo search, for instance.

  2. I've not been spammed yet (I think I'm too small a fish) but I have seen the first possibilities of search engines looking for the opportuities via my my SiteMeter too.

Hang in there, and I hope inspiration has struck for tomorrow!

    Hi,

praying that the inspiration of the Holy Spirit fell and you preached with love and grace today.

sorry to hear about the spam. It's a real nuisance isn,t it. Glad you accept non-blogger comments though, it's a bit sad when you really want to say something and it's blogger only as are some of the Rev Gals. hint hint!

be blessed. I'm preaching too - a bit late notice, and no lectionary, so just flowed with God. Hope the people of Estonia are encouraged. I've been at least as I've prepared. Maybe that's what God had in mind! lol

  4. What a pain! I didn't get any spam comments with Blogger, but as soon as I moved to WordPress they were coming in droves. Now under control with a plug-in called Spam Karma - but I don't know what Blogger equivalents there are. Hope this works, anyway!

Sorry I couldn't offer any inspiration for the sermon: I wrote mine longhand so couldn't even send you a file. Though I'm sure your own words are the important thing. My own sermon didn't turn out at all the way I expected, so I don't know what was going on....

Since there's been a troll fol de rolling his way about the blog recently, I've had to introduce comment moderation for a while. Hope this doesn't deter genuine responses...
