Just to cheer us all up

I'm going to visit this litter on Wednesday, all being well. There is, it appears, one bitch still available so I'm now torn between manic excitement and "ohnowhatamigoingtodo-ness"
It does at least divert me from my techie dramas...
Next question...dog cages...good or bad idea? I think I'm in favour, but haven't used one with earlier dogs, and won't for Mufti. What do you think, peoples?

  1. appear to be a good idea from what I#ve heard around here. My parents don't use one now that they have moved to a smaller house, but found it invaluable with an only slightly less evil Jack Russell and useful for their dear Westie.

  2. ooh definetly! if it's anything like the one my boss has (ie big enough for a full size german shepherd then it's a fantastic extra surface for accumulating clutter!!!! oh, and their dog likes it too :)

  4. No views on the dog cage question ... or maybe I have - a colleague at school has one for her puppy and seems to find it helpful.

As a non-dog person I have to say that those puppies are seriously, seriously cute.

  5. Dog cage? In the house? Never seen one in use. Then again, we've never had a puppy.

In the car, perhaps - our sometimes evil jack russell-collie cross tries to sit on my lap WHEN I am driving!!

  6. We used a crate for both Molly and Sam, during the puppy year. They liked their crates, and I might have kept one longer if Sam hadn't needed such a huge one! They saw the crate as a comfy den, and it meant we could leave them and know they were safe. I'm writing in the plural, but they used the crate consecutively, not together!

  7. Jake was crate trained when he came to us at 9 months. We still have his crate 5 years later. He hides in it during storms and goes in it to sleep when he's inside. I understand they like a somewhat closed in place to sleep. He also goes to the pantry to hide from thunder booms and sleep. It also gives him that closed in feeling, but it's not under a window where those thunder booms are so loud.

we have crtaes for our two and they even go in there to sleep with the doors open - and the tops give me a spot to put their basket of stuff (leads, treats, etc) - you can come see if you want... :) anytime!!

although I used an old playpen (not suitable for children anymore) when they were puppies - it was large enough for a pee pee pad, a water dish and a bed - gradually we moved to the crates, but only when the bladders were advanced enough to not go in the crate.

  15. gorgeous puppies..

My parents have a cage for their german shepherd - she just uses it like a bed - it's always open so not sure what the reasoning is behind them really!!

Since there's been a troll fol de rolling his way about the blog recently, I've had to introduce comment moderation for a while. Hope this doesn't deter genuine responses...
