Sign of the times?

As Christmas preparations in church spiral into free-fall, I heard myself utter the following alternative verses during the canticle at Evening Prayer yesterday

"Mercy and truth are met together
Righteousness and Peace have killed each other"

Is this an indication of Advent overload, do you think?

I've come up with some interesting mix-ups over the years... but not that one!

I think the trick is not to admit to them before the world in one's blog ;-)

There is something in the air! I took our new copy of "Times and Seasons" to one of the churches this morning, and proceeded to mangle the intercessions!

Christmas?! Are we nearly there yet??!

Oh, I dunno Chris...I'd hate anyone to have delusions of competence where I'm concerned!
Would love to know what form your intercessional tangle took

Kathryn,

I agree about delusions of competence! Sadly the only one who occasionally harbours them about me is ... well, me!

On this occasion it was a combination of lack of preparation and the usual last minute prayer requests. (I never seem to be able to take in info immediately before a service). I managed to miss out one of the sick, and capped it all by carefully introducing a response which - as I read on - I realised didn't actually feature in the prayers!

Of course, it keeps me humble ... (-ish)!
