And I'm not paranoid!
After the nightmare situation last time I preached at Evensong, Hugger Steward took my printer to pieces, swore at it comprehensively in a variety of languages and generally showed it the error of its ways, and as a result it has behaved perfectly for a month now.
But this evening, having finished my sermon for tomorrow evening I thought I'd get ahead of the game and print it before bed - only to have the printer eat several sheets or paper, jam some more and smudge the rest.
It hates me, I tell you...and I'm going to bed.
Grrrrrr
Exorcism of printer scheduled for tomorrow.
Edit; Joy cometh in the morning - the printer has printed, and the sermon (every single page of it) is happily ensconced in my preaching folder. Now all I have to do is deliver the thing....

I would strongly suspect that it is may be your choice of paper that it is dislikes - are you mixing and matching paper - or worse still using some re-cycled material - I once had a youth work volunteer who claimed he could get any jamming printer to work if you used the right paper?
I'm inclined to go along with the "computers are out to get you / me / anyone who really needs them to work" theory myself. I swear computers know when their co-operation is essential and, like a child, will go out of their way to thwart you!
Tell me, why is it that printers etc. go bad just when one needs them to work?
Printing cartridges go empty at 11 p.m. at night, too.
arrghhhh
SO GLAD you got your sermon printed Sunday morning!
fx blush and head hung in shame
I suspect that Tom is right...I do recycle madly and use all sorts of random paper. I'll try being really kind in my input of paper if not of text, and see how we get on.
I truly didn't mean to be cruel to the printer...honestly I didn't.
Oh separated sister...I who was feeling so comfy when M called to say our priest was stuck in the country and would I preach...No prob...I had the Lent I from the Feb Blog...a little tweak and away...HA...an hour before service...NO INK! They know, they do, they know!
Er that would be FEM as in Feminist Blog, though it does occur in Feb. Apparantly I'm spelling impaired as well as printing.
I'm really not sure that being kind to them works! You've got to let the [expletive deleted] know who's boss!
To avoid conclusion, it's printers I'm talking about, not children ;-)
Avoid conclusion!!!??
Yep, got to avoid them at all costs!
It is widely believed in these parts that printers are peculiarly susceptible to demonic possession...so glad yours was "delivered"!!
